It’s getting to be the time to take off my winter wheels and switch to the new ones. This happened to be the only photo I could find on hand with my summer wheels on the car. As much as I wish it was the 308, it’s the WRX. There is always the classic gold/bronze for Subaru’s but my winter wheels are that color and was kind of looking for something different. Not some crazy gaudy color and not straight black are the only stipulations. What ideas do you all have?

Lime green

If it was my winter wheels, maybe. I don’t think I could live with lime green for how long the summer wheels are on

How about white?

I have definitely thought about it. My only concern is how dirty they get but it may be worth it to just clean it more.

This is one of the few times it’s okay to say I own the WRX like it’s not as good as the other car.

But, but… TOM SELLECK!

I did these wheels with VHT’s wheel paint, the gunmetal color. They turned out OK, not perfect but they look nice if you aren’t down on your hands and knees inspecting them. For a rattle can, the VHT stuff is pretty good. It lays down decently and gives a pretty durable finish.

My car isn't exactly clean enough that the wheel paint job would matter much

Yeah, same here. It’s good enough for my crapcan!

How did you go about it? Wet sand a touch, then a coat of primer, then a couple coats of the VHT?

Yep, basically. I cleaned the wheels really well, scuffed them with 600 grit, shot primer, 5 or so light color coats, then wet sanded with 800 to 1500 to smooth out the orange peel a little, then shot three coats of clear.

Everybody’s get dirty. Clean them and there is probably a Protestant you can spray on them.

Damn Protestants are just too clean!

Prismacolor black? Or maybe color matched to the body, subtle but if you looked hard enough you’d notice it.

I’m just glad you’re not considering bright orange/lime green/purple/neon pink like every other Subaru owner.
I was going to suggest bronze because that looks so good with black, but sounds like that’s been dismissed. So...I think what’s left is gunmetal.
